مدینه خان چیژی رواندزی ناسک و نازدار

Women from Old Rwandiz were known by their husbands´names for example if a woman´s first name was Xan and she was married to man whose name was Shexa Bag her first name would be suffixed to a long [a] and her husband´s first name would get an [iy] suffix to indicate affiliation. Thus her name would be Xan-aa Shexa Bag-iy خانا شێخه به گی.

Sometimes they were known by a prominent personality quality رابیه شه ش ده و (the six-mouth Rabi to indicate the ability to talk the equal of six people) or a handicap in their body and way of speaking (in such cases only an [a] was suffixed to her first name) or by their husbands´name and profession or by their tribal name.

Most of their names were Islamic Arabic such as Fatima, Aaisha, Xadija but usually changed and adapted to the Kurdish sound system of a particular area. Some first names added the prefix or the suffix gur (gul) rose such as

گور خاتر - حه یشه گور - گوره نام - گولزار- گولناز - گوره باغ

The suffix Xan is still added to first names as a form of respect as

حه یشه خان

Some female names were and are still names of flowers such as

شلێر - شیلان - نێرگز - بنه وشه
